Away from the hectic life at home, your stay on the idyllic Unerholzhof allows for a scenery change and relaxation while exploring nature and various activities on and around the grand mountains of the Hohe Tauern. The farm and the accommodations are managed by the Steiner family, who built their business on sustainability, biodiversity, and high-quality self-made products. From our accommodations, you will wake up every morning to a wonderful view of the surrounding mountain ridges and in the evening you will be able to enjoy a view of a sea of lights coming from the surrounding villages in the valley. Our farm offers a holiday apartment for 6 people and oneholiday house for 10 people. Our accomodations are especially popular with families, but also with sports enthusiasts as it is right in the center od the Hohe Tauern region. The hiking area of Piesendorf – Niedernsill is also only 15 minutes away from the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun and the alpine town of Zell am See.
We offer immediate closeness to mountains and nature as well as access to self.made farm products that will enrich your cuisine during your holiday in Austria.
If you are interested in exploring the farm and the its lovely animals, you are more than welcome to visit the stables. Children, however, must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The farm is owned by the Steiner family since 1910. Rupert Steiner has extended his farm by buying the neighbouring farm, the Döllerlehen, which was owned by his brother Johann. This became the holiday house that is you can now book for your stay in the ski town of Zell am See-Kaprun and Piesendorf-Niedernsill. This became the holiday house that is you can now book for your stay in the ski town of Zell am See-Kaprun and Piesendorf-Niedernsill. The house has always been especially valued by families who can spend their holidays retreated from the crowded cities and streets where the children have endless room to play inside and outside and the parents can still enjoy the luxurious vibe of a private house with sauna and chalet style interior. All in all, the farm covers 38 hectares of land of which most of it is situated on steep mountainous areas. This area is enough to produce food for approximately 55 farm animals which include horses, cows, goats, poultry and much much more. The farm is certified as an organic farm since 1993, although everything that is being produced on this farm is based on what is best for the soil and nature.
We have always striven to bring our agricultural methods up to date with the knowledge we have about health and sustainability in animals and plants. The alpine location of the farm at 1000 meters above sea level requires the adaptation of harvesting methods. Many of the surrounding farms also still make use of many traditional techniques to cultivate their fields and meadows. One of our main priorities is the realization of biodiversity and a more holistic approach to agriculture.
Self-made products such as honey or schnapps among many others, can be bought directly on the farm or on our Webshop. If you have any questions regarding the farm, please contact us via mail or give us a call. We would highly recommend you to book a tasting session of our schnaps and other home-made products that you are interested in. We also offer various herbal sals, jams, juices, and dairy products as well as honey from our own beekeeping site.
Since this year it is possible to get a professional suspension fork and damper service for your mountain bike directly at the farm. The house’s son-in-law, Jelle Beenker, is your contact for everything related to bicycles and he would be more than happy to help with repairs and services.
